Welcome! I am happy to share a bit about myself. Perhaps in God's providence we will meet sometime.
I am the pastor of Valley Covenant Church, a congregation located in Eugene, Oregon (it rains a lot here).
My other interests include fly-fishing and philosophy (I have a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame). When not pastoring, fishing, or philosophizing (three distinct but related activities), I can often be found reading, working at the computer, or relaxing with my family.
I invite you to visit my blog and perhaps comment on sermon work in progress.
Some of my favorites are (in no particular order):
A Canticle for Leibowitz, Walter M. Miller, Jr.
The Supper of the Lamb, Robert Farrar Capon
The River Why, David James Duncan
The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien
A Community of Character, Stanley Hauerwas
The Art of Pastoring, David Hansen
Orthodoxy, G. K. Chesterton
Hard Times, Charles Dickens
You can read or listen to some of my sermons here.
Occasionally, I write something besides a sermon.
"Christian Ethics and the Ethics of Virtue"
"A Covenant Dialogue on Baptism"
"Doing Philosophy As a Pietist"
"Grace and Free-will: Three Sixteenth Century Debates"
"What in the World Is God Doing?"
